Changes...

Okay, so I started a blog for Shayn & I. Which means I will be closing up shop here shortly. The new blog address is here. Maybe if we're lucky Shayn will contribute a post once in awhile too. And if we're really lucky little Alpine, or "Pinecone" as Addie refers to him as, will start typing away. He is a genius after all - he can already hold his head up pretty well. :)

Yawn!

Isn't he cute? And he already makes a face when I kiss him, like "Aw mom! Knock it off!" Whatever. He likes it. He's just trying to act tough around his friends.

I'm tired. This kid sleeps more during the day than at night. Although I guess it's not that bad - he only gets up a couple times each night. Usually around 3 & 6, but that's after going to bed at midnight. So it makes for a loooooong night. Thank goodness I have the TV to keep me company. If you're up around 2-3am you've got a ton of informercials & Lawrence Welk. From 3-4am there's Jay Leno. NBC re-runs it for some reason. From 4:00am on there's lots & lots of news. Mainly national news then the local news. All this helps distract me from how tired I am while I feed the little guy.

I did learn one exciting thing while watching Jay Leno the other night/morning. Barry Manilow was on & he has a "Best of the 60's" cd. Make fun of Barry all you want, but his 50's cd was pretty good! So now I'm thinking I need the 60's cd. I'm sure either my mom or Cindy will get it & then I can borrow it - just to listen to, of course. ;)

And speaking of cds, Josh Groban has a new one out today. Must. Have. It. Love Josh Groban. I already listened to some of it on AOL's music site.

Now I'm off to take another Motrin. It's starting to wear off. Ahhh, Motrin......my new best friend.

Alpine Rex Bowler

He's finally here! All nine pounds & 20 1/2 inches of him. He was born on Sunday October 29 at 2:02 pm. Everything with the labor & delivery went really well. (Thank goodness for epidurals!) It was probably the most amazing thing I've ever experienced. And it's so nice to not be pregnant anymore. Nice to have the little guy out. No more heartburn or nausea or uncomfortable sleeping.

Alpine has had a little bit of jaundice so we got a suitcase of bilirubin lights to put him under. Hence the tanning bed picture. :)

And I'm feeling pretty good. I just keep taking my Motrin pain pills & that helps keep the pain away. I'm trying to figure out this mom thing and find time to sleep. :) But he's worth it. We feel very blessed to have him here and healthy.

September.

Goodbye summer.

Hello fall.

Tomorrow offically begins my second favorite month of the year. My favorite has gotta be December. I love the whole Christmas thing. Wish it lasted longer. Which is probably why I start playing Christmas music right after Halloween. Anyway, I digress....

I love September. Leaves changing. Cooler weather. Crisp fall nights that have that "fall smell" to them. Football. Sweaters. Orange. Red. Yellow. My anniversary. Baseball playoffs. Jackets. Leaving the windows open. I just love it.

It also begins the fact that I can being saying, "I am having a baby next month".

Oh crap.

Last night at our birth class we watched a C-section video & got a tour of the labor & delivery floors of the hospital. Saw the l&d rooms. How the bed works. The big light & mirror in the ceiling. The birthing ball. The bar they'll attach to your bed, if you'd like. The whole nine yards.

So of course, last night I had some whacked out dreams. Dreamed I was in labor & pushing this baby out. I woke up & realized I had my fists clenched together so tighly (y'know, working on pushing this little King Kong out) that my hands & knuckles were really sore! And they stayed that way for most of the morning.

I've heard lots of stories about the weird dreams ladies have when they're pregnant. Not me, until the past few nights. I think the crazy-pregnant-dream stage is starting to kick in.

Seven.

Doctor visit today. I gained seven pounds in two weeks. And I thought eleven was bad in a month! But Dr. Barton said he's not worried...it's probably just swelling because of the heat. Well, let's hope so. Because it's either that or I'm giving birth to King Kong.

blah. blah. blah.

Haylie told me to update my blog. I shall be obedient & do it today! Even though I have nothing to say, really. This will probably just be some random tidibts:

- I'm thinking about starting a new blog for Shayn & I. He actually thinks it would be a good idea what with his parents moving halfway across the world and all. Then we would all be entertained by what I'm sure to be his humerous and off-color posts in addition to my insightful ramblings.

- I finally have my scrapbook area cleaned up. I made two cards today. Go me! But now Shayn wants me to help him fence tonight. Priorities dude. Priorities.

- Birthing classes are lovely. This last week we were entertained by the anesti....hmmm, epidural guy. The whole class was on medications & we watched two or three births. I kind of had the heebie-jeebies afterward. Too much information about needles & poking & medications & side-effects & what could go wrong, etc. This week we get the hospital tour. I'm looking forward to that.

- Eight weeks to go. Freaking out a little bit here.

- Shayn painted the baby's room last week. It's green. Called "Marshland". I like it. It's a bright, happy green.

- My new favoite treat is Ritz crackers & cottage cheese. Since I am an eating machine I am happy when I find something that tastes good & is healthy so I can eat as much of it as I want.

- We ate at the Spaghetti Factory a week or so ago and I am having some serious cravings for it since. It was delicious. Plus, they give you so much stinking food I actually got full.

- Getting comfortable to sleep at night is becoming increasingly difficult.

- Jared & Kathy blessed little Emma Rachel Cahoon yesterday. She is a cutie. Such a quiet & content baby.

- Stephanie is getting married this Saturday. We have two days of festivities; luncheons, sealing, some "garden gala elegant dinner buffet"....it sounds much too adult for us. ;)

- We saw Jeff & Diana at Lowe's on Saturday. (Sidenote: I love Lowe's contractor check out. It's on the other end away from all the checkstands. They have a coffee machine which also dispenses the most wonderful concoction of hot chocolate. I highly recommend it.) Diana does not even look like she was pregnant only three weeks ago. I was green with envy. I miss my old belly.

Time to go make dinner. So far the menu includes a frozen chicken breast. We'll see what else I can come up with. :)

Rooster Tail.

Love watching Shayn slolam ski. Love that I finally have a camera that can capture some sweet shots of him.

First birth class was good. We mainly went over nutrition. And some breathing stuff. There are some odd people in our class though. Plus, we got a goody bag. It included a sample of one Huggies diaper. At least we have one diaper in our house now! I'm kind of starting to feel like we better get a move on with this baby thing. We really haven't done much yet to get ready. And after seeing Jeff & Diana have little Sara Jayne eight weeks early, I'm wanting to start. If this guy comes that early we're in trouble.
